Who needs a visa
The UK Foreign Office says you must have a visa to enter Cambodia as a visitor 1. Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation introduced the e-visa in April 2006, and www.evisa.gov.kh is the platform for tourist visa applications 2. Check your own nationality's rules with a Cambodian embassy before you travel 1.
Cost
The official sources we could open do not publish the current e-visa fee in a readable form, so we do not quote one here 1,2. The UK Foreign Office tells travellers to check fees, conditions and photo rules with the Royal Embassy of Cambodia 1. The fee shown on https://www.evisa.gov.kh at the time you apply is the one that counts 2.
When to apply
Apply for an e-visa at least 4 days in advance 1. You can apply on the website or the official e-visa app for iOS or Android 1. The UK Foreign Office notes the website may not work in some browsers 1.
Validity and extensions
Tourist visas are valid for 30 days from the date of entry 1. Make sure your passport is stamped and keep the departure form 1. You can extend a tourist visa in Cambodia 1.
Overstaying can lead to fines, detention and deportation, with no limit to the fine 1. If you overstay by more than 30 days, you must leave Cambodia and pay the fine 1.
Visa on arrival and the e-Arrival card
If you do not get an e-visa, you can get a visa on arrival at airports and land border crossings, with a photo and payment in US dollars 1.
Since 1 September 2024 air arrivals at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville airports must submit an e-Arrival card within 7 days before arrival 1. Cambodia's General Department of Immigration says all travellers can submit it within 7 days before or on arrival, and submission is free 3. The e-Arrival site is https://arrival.gov.kh 3.
Who handles problems
The e-visa is operated by the E-Visa Office, not by Cambodian embassies. The Royal Embassy of Cambodia in London sends e-visa questions to www.evisa.gov.kh/contact_us 2. Apply only on www.evisa.gov.kh or the official app linked by the UK Foreign Office 1,2. Other websites can add their own charges 2.
